Wenderl Fertig was previously a colonel but he promoted himself to the rank of a general so that he could unite the Philippino and United States Army members who had ran into the forest from the Japanese Army. This installment has two main plots, one, which involves one James Whitaker, is sent to the Philippines so that he can meet with Wenderll Fertig. It is one of the best reads in the series.
